Etienne Perret Recieves Praise From Fellow Jewelry Designer

In the jewelry world, there's nothing more special than to hear the praise of your fellow jewelry designers. Trend setter and innovative artist that he is, Etienne would be lying if he tried to deny that, over the years he has acquired quite the following, both from the ranks of educated jewelry consumers and his designer peers.

Regardless, it is still heartwarming when Etienne receives the type of remark that shows just how important his career and inspirational colored diamond designs have been in developing another artist's own style and path.

Recently we stumbled across a fun article in the Lapidary Journal, profiling fellow jewelry designer and friend, Julie Shaw.

Quoted from lapidary Journal, April 2010...

DONE
37 years still loving what I do and supporting myself with it.
DOING
Making necklaces, rings with stones, enamels, different metals, and new textures.
FIRST PIECE
Calder for his abandon and passion. Daniel Brush for his alchemy. Andy Goldsworthy for his exploration into “what if.”
JEWELRY HEROES
Michael Good, Etienne Perret, Robert Lee Morris, Alexander Calder, and Steven Kretchmer.
DESIGN SOURCES
The ebb and flow of life, stones, nature, the middle East, Buddhism, having an idea and running with it.
FAVORITE PART OF DOING
Soldering, texturing, and handling the Stones.

While Julie has clearly followed her heart and taken her own, special path in the jewelry world, creating beautiful pendants with large semi-precious minerals set in sterling silver and gold and finished with exciting patinas, it is nice to know that Etienne's designs made an impact on her development as a unique and talented artist.

Check out Julie's website.
