The recession may have influenced a trend to downsize center stones but not to diminish the WOW factor in diamond bling, as designers dial up the shine with lots of smaller stones. Hollywood designer darling Erica Courtney has two shining examples in her latest dread dead gorgeous "Charlotte" design, which wraps the center stone in three layers of diamonds, and her "Champagne" design that drapes the center gem in small diamonds cascading down the shank.
